wear (v.) [wEr] 穿, 戴, 留(髮), 蓄(鬚), 搽(化妝品等)
﹣to have on one's body, esp. as clothing but sometimes also for protection, decoration  or other purposes.
EX: He's wearing a new coat.
      他穿著一件新外套。

wear out (phr V.) (使)...耗盡, (把)...用壞, (把)...穿破 = wear sthg. out
﹣to (cause to) be reduced to nothing or to a useless state by long use.
EX: Those thin shoes will wear out quickly.
      那些很薄的鞋子很快就會穿破。



brand-new (adj.) 嶄新的, 全新的, 未用過的
﹣new and completely unused.
EX: Be careful with that record - it's brand-new!
      那張唱片是全新的-請小心!



impoverish (v.) [Im’pAvFrIJ] 使窮困 // 一般用於被動態 ; (因除掉重要事物)而使更糟(惡化, 貧瘠)
﹣to make poor
EX: Her family was impoverished by a fire.
﹣to make wrose or incomplete by the removal of something important.
EX: Our lives have been impoverished by the death of that great artist.

manafacture (v.) [,mXnjF’fXktJQ] [尤指用機器大量]製造; 捏造(傳聞, 理由等)

EX: This firm manufactures cars.
      這家公司大量製造汽車。
﹣to invent (an untrue story, reason, etc.)
EX: You'll have to manufacture a good excuse if you don't go to your sister's wedding!
      如果不去參加你妹妹的婚禮,就必須編造站得住腳的藉口。



unaware (adj.) [,VnF’wEr] 不知道的, 沒有察覺到的, 未意識到的
﹣not having knowledge or consciousness(of something)
EX: He was completely unaware that he was bring watched.
      他根本沒有注意到自己正在受到監視。
EX: He seemed to be unaware of the trouble he was causing.
      他似乎還沒有意識到自己惹起的麻煩。
