gesture (n.) [‘dKEstJQ] 表示, 手勢, 姿態; (友好的)動作
﹣the use of movement of the body, esp. of the hans, to express a certain meaning.
EX: She shrugged her shoulders in a gesture of impatience.
      她聳聳肩膀以這種姿態表示不耐煩。
﹣an action which is done to show one's feelings or intentions.
EX: We invited our new neighbours to dinner as a gesture of friendship.
      我們邀請新鄰居來吃飯作為友好的表示。



blessing (n.) 
[‘blEsIG] (上帝的)祝福, 恩典, 保佑
﹣an act of asking a receiving God's favour, help or protection.
EX: The blessing of the Lord be upon you all.



orphan (n.)

﹣a person, esp. a child, whose parents are both dead.
EX: The boy became an orphan at six.
      那男孩六歲時成了孤兒。

orphanage (n.)

significant (adj.)

      這是該課題最重要的研究成果之一。
*significant 比 important有更強烈的意味。

significance (n.) 
[sIg’nIfFkFns] 重要性, 意義, 含意, 價值
﹣the quality of being significant; importance, meaning or value.
EX: This new discovery of oil is of great significance to the country's economy.
      這次新發現的石油對該國的經濟有著重大的意義。



regarding (prep.)
