mend (v.) [mEnd] 修補, 修理
﹣to repair(a break, fault, etc.) in (something)
EX: He asked her to mend his socks.
      他叫她替他補襪子。



starve (v.) [stArv] (使)挨餓, (使)餓死
﹣to(cause to) suffer or die from great hunger.
EX: They got lost in the desert and starved to death.
      他們在沙漠中迷路而餓死了。



overhead (adv.) [‘ovQ,hEd] 在頭頂上(的), 在空中(的)
﹣above one's head.
EX: A plane flew overhead.
      一架飛機從頭頂上飛過。



play it cool (infml.) 處變不驚, 臨危不亂, 在危急的情況下保持冷靜
﹣to remain calm in a difficult or dangerous situation 

play it safe (infml.) 謹慎行事, 不冒險
﹣to act in such a way that one has the best chance of avoiding trouble.



play about/around (phr V.) 尋樂, 玩耍; 與...有不正當關係, 廝混
﹣to spend time having fun.
EX: We play around with the kids at the park.
      我們在公園和孩子們玩耍。

bounce (v.) [bAUns] 彈跳, 蹦跳
﹣to move with a springing movement, often suddenly or noisily.
EX: She bounced into the room.
      她蹦蹦跳跳地走進房間裡。



sparkle (v.) [‘spArkL] 閃閃發光, 閃耀, 閃爍
﹣to shine insmall flashes
EX: Her diamonds sparkled in the sunlight.
      她的鑽石在夜晚閃閃發光。
