glimpse (n.) [glImps] 瞥見, 一瞥
﹣a quick look at or incomplete view of
EX: I only caught a glimpse of the thief, so I can't really describe him.
      我只瞥見那竊賊一眼，所以說不出他的面貌。



skyline (n.) [‘skaI,laIn] [尤指大建築物以天空為背景的] 輪廓, 天際線
﹣a shape or view made by scenery, esp. tall city buildings, against the background of the sky.
EX: We saw a figure silhouetted against the skyline.
      我們看到一個人影凸現在地平線上。



buffalo (n.) [‘bVfl,o] 水牛
﹣a large Asian and African animal of the cattle family, with long flattish curred horns.
// 規則的複數變化是加-s 或 -es，但是有些是屬於不規則的複數變化
   => 老鼠: mouse/mice，羊:sheep/sheep，水牛:buffalo/buffalo。
＊buffalos是指不同種類的水牛。

EX: She has travelled all round the globe.

global (adj.) [‘globL] 全球的, 全世界的; 整體的, 總括的, 全面的
﹣of or concerning the whole world.
EX: Global climatic changes may have been responsible for the extinction of the dinosaurs.
      全球性的氣候變化也許是造成恐龍滅絕的原因。
﹣taking account of or including(almost) all possible considerations.
EX: The report takes a global view of the company's problems.
      報告對該公司的問題作了綜合性的論述。



various (adj.) [‘vErIFs] 各種不同的, 各樣的
﹣different from each other; of(many) different kinds.
EX: There has been snow today in various parts of the country.
      今天在全國不同地區都下了雪。
